Hospital Information Management System (HIMS)
One clinical and operational record from registration through discharge — not paper files and WhatsApp.
Replaced fragmented paper and desktop tools with a HIMS that matches Pakistani hospital OPD/IPD operations and feeds finance cleanly through FIMS.
Unified clinical ops
The problem
A Pakistani hospital ran OPD, wards, pharmacy, and lab on paper registers and disconnected desktop tools. Patient history was hard to find, queues grew, and billing often disagreed with what clinical staff recorded.
Registration issued MR numbers that other counters could not reliably look up. Doctors wrote orders on slips that pharmacy and lab reinterpreted. Nursing updates lived on whiteboards. Finance reconciled days later from incomplete paper trails. Off-the-shelf foreign HIMS packages did not match local OPD flow, Urdu/English mixed labels, or how the hospital actually charged packages and services.
What we delivered
We delivered a Hospital Information Management System tailored to their workflows: patient master and MRN, OPD and IPD admission, appointments and doctor rosters, clinical orders to pharmacy and lab, nursing station updates, and a clean handoff into the hospital’s FIMS for billing and receipts.
How we approached it
- ✓Mapped real counter paths — registration → OPD/IPD → orders → pharmacy/lab → discharge — before writing screens
- ✓Built a single patient master so every department shares the same MRN and demographics
- ✓Digitized appointments and doctor availability so OPD queues are planned, not guessed
- ✓Connected pharmacy and lab order queues to clinical requests with status the wards can see
- ✓Designed FIMS handoff so billed services match what was actually ordered and delivered
Outcomes
- ✓Patient record available at every counter without hunting paper files
- ✓OPD and IPD status visible to registration, nursing, and doctors
- ✓Fewer lost pharmacy and lab orders between wards and service desks
- ✓Billing starts from clinical activity instead of reconstructed slips
- ✓Staff trained on the hospital’s real process — not a generic foreign template

Questions buyers ask about this project
What is HIMS in a hospital context?
A Hospital Information Management System (HIMS) digitizes patient registration, OPD/IPD, appointments, clinical orders, pharmacy/lab workflows, and related operations so every department works from the same patient record.
Is this the same as FIMS?
No. HIMS focuses on clinical and hospital operations. FIMS (Financial Information Management System) handles billing, receipts, payments, and ledgers. We built them to work together so finance is not re-keying from paper.
Can you roll out HIMS in phases?
Yes. Typical phases are registration + OPD first, then IPD/nursing, then pharmacy/lab, then deeper clinical documentation — so the hospital keeps running during go-live.
