Hospital Financial Management System (FIMS)
Patient billing, cash, vendors, and ledgers that reconcile to what HIMS actually delivered.
Finance stopped rebuilding the day from paper. FIMS bills from HIMS, records cash correctly, and gives leadership a daily view of collections and outstanding.
Clean daily close
The problem
Hospital finance closed days late because billing clerks retyped services from paper, cash counters disagreed with ward charges, and leadership could not see a trustworthy daily collection picture.
Clinical activity lived in HIMS (or on paper) while finance lived in spreadsheets and a basic accounting package. Package deals, panel/insurance adjustments, pharmacy issues, and refunds were entered twice — and often differently. Month-end meant reconciling three versions of the truth.
What we delivered
We built a Financial Information Management System for the hospital: chart of accounts and cost centers, patient invoices fed from HIMS activity, counter receipts and refunds, vendor payments, and day/period reports finance can close without reconstruction.
How we approached it
- ✓Defined service and package charge masters aligned to how the hospital actually bills in PKR
- ✓Pulled billable lines from HIMS orders and admissions instead of blank invoice screens
- ✓Separated cash/bank receipts, refunds, and panel adjustments with clear audit trails
- ✓Mapped departments to cost centers so collections and expenses can be reviewed by unit
- ✓Delivered day-book, collection, and outstanding reports the CFO and admin can run without IT
Outcomes
- ✓Billing matches clinical activity instead of retyped slips
- ✓Daily collection and outstanding visibility for management
- ✓Fewer disputes between wards, pharmacy, and cash counters
- ✓Faster month-end close with ledger trails that auditors can follow
- ✓HIMS and FIMS stay in sync as one hospital system of record

Questions buyers ask about this project
What does FIMS cover in a hospital?
Patient billing and invoices, receipts and refunds, vendor payments, chart of accounts, cost centers, and financial reports. Clinical workflows stay in HIMS; money and ledgers stay in FIMS.
Does FIMS replace HIMS?
No. They are complementary. HIMS captures what care and services were delivered; FIMS turns that into invoices, cash, and books.
Can FIMS work with an existing accounting package?
Often we replace day-to-day hospital billing first and export summaries to a general ledger if needed. Full chart-of-accounts inside FIMS is available when the hospital wants one system.
