Custom ERP for a Marble & Tile Showroom
Inventory, purchases, quotations, and POS that speak slab sizes — not generic SKUs.
Replaced spreadsheet chaos with a showroom ERP that matches how marble is bought, cut, quoted, and sold — size-aware stock, accurate sqft, and POS that does not fight the business.
Size-aware stock + quotes
The problem
A marble and tile showroom ran stock, purchases, and quotes across spreadsheets and ad-hoc notes. Staff guessed slab sizes, mispriced square footage, and lost track of leftover lengths after cutting.
Off-the-shelf inventory tools treat every item as a simple quantity. Stone yards sell by grade, slab width families, and cut lengths. Quotes needed nearest-size matching, wastage that could return to stock, and POS discounts that still respected MRP rules. Generic ERP meant workarounds, wrong totals, and arguments over what was actually on the yard.
What we delivered
We built a product-owned ERP tailored to the showroom: products defined by name and grade, size families managed in settings, bulk length entry on purchases, square-footage pricing (L×W/144), quotation UX that surfaces nearest sizes and reuses wastage on convert, and POS with fixed or percent discounts and accurate stock deltas on purchase edits.
How we approached it
- ✓Modeled products as name + grade only; moved size families into shared settings so every purchase and quote stays consistent
- ✓Purchase flows accept bulk lengths, sync lengths onto the product, and show total sqft so buyers see the real yardage
- ✓Quotations collapse noise — show nearest viable sizes, capture reusable wastage, and push offcuts back into stock when a quote converts
- ✓Sales and POS enforce clear MRP/discount rules so fixed discounts above percentage caps do not silently break pricing
- ✓Purchase edits apply net stock deltas instead of blind reverse-and-rewrite, so corrections do not invent negative stock
Outcomes
- ✓One system for purchases, stock by size, quotations, and counter sales
- ✓Sqft and length math the yard already uses — not a forced unit conversion
- ✓Faster quoting with less “which size do we actually have?” back-and-forth
- ✓Wastage that re-enters inventory instead of disappearing after a cut
- ✓Managers can trust balances after edits, not only after perfect first-time entry

Questions buyers ask about this project
Why not use SAP, Odoo, or a generic inventory app?
Generic ERPs excel at standard SKUs and warehouses. Stone and tile yards price by slab dimensions, grades, and leftover lengths. Fitting that into a generic item master usually means shadow spreadsheets again. A purpose-built module set costs less than years of workarounds.
What modules does this ERP include?
Products and size families, purchases with bulk lengths, multi-branch stock, quotations with nearest-size and wastage reuse, sales/POS with discounts, and the operational reports the showroom needs day to day.
Can you build a similar ERP for another trade?
Yes. The same approach works for lumber, fabric, metal, or any business that sells by dimension, grade, and remnant — not only marble.
